If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times: I love to read.
Some of this reading that I do is research for pieces that I’m writing. Not too long ago I was reading “Fight: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Ass-Kicking but Were Afraid You’d Get Your Ass Kicked for Asking” by Eugene “Spider” Robinson to get some thoughts on alternative takes on fighting. It’s a fun read and my short review that I posted on LinkedIn drew some attention from several of my friends over there.
Did I say LinkedIn? Yep. Sure did. The same LinkedIn that is typically used for connecting professional people to others. What I hadn’t thought about was that there were people in my current profession (aka “the day gig”)
The good news is that none of the ass-kickery that I was reading about adversely affected my primary means of making money, but it certainly opened my eyes.
Spider Robinson finished writing Robert Heinlein’s Variable Star.
Random, I know, but it just tickled me so.
As far as reading, I came to suggest a short little book that I found rather interesting, and seeing as you are a quill-dabbler I thought perhaps you could benefit from it. Our Magnificent Bastard Tongue: The Untold Story of English by John McWorter. Take care, bub.
