Getting back into my editor’s mindset must have flipped some sort of switch in my head, because I’m very much back into refining writing that I put aside some time ago.
I’m just focusing on a couple of passes right now, but breaking it down seems to help. The first pass is a lightspeed pass over the story to pick up pacing issues. After that, I punch up descriptions of people, places, and things. Once the first two passes are out of the way a couple of tweaks to emotions, dialog, and grammar, and with any luck another story in the can.
